About
Will Houghton is a Set Builder for Theatre, Film and TV based in Cardiff and London, specializing in traditional bench work and on-site production work.
With an awareness of sustainable practices, Will efficiently and ethically realises designs utilising a range of skills and approaches. Employing digital skills, carpentry, and metalwork alongside experience in scheduling, budgeting, and rigging, Will strives for highly organized builds and thrives working in, or leading a team to create scenery that is both high impact and detail oriented.
Will has worked on multiple in-house shows at RWCMD, notably Production Managing 'Earthquakes in London' by Mike Barlett, and Construction Managing both 'The Book of Dust: La Belle Sauvage by Bryony Laver and 'Oppenheimer' by Tom Morton-Smith.
He has also gained experience working on external productions with renowned scene shops in Cardiff Theatrical Services (CTS) and Bay Productions Ltd, and engaged in on-site work at both the National Theatre and The Young Vic.
He received both a BA (Hons) in Design for Performance and a Foundation Degree in Scenic Construction at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama
