Production Process
Draughting

Using AutoCAD to take the initial outline of the brick wall, obtained from the set designer to divide the wall into sections. This enabled me to overly the English Bond brickwork, and line up the frames to allow for a finger joint style seam. This would hide the clear jpin between the flats.

Using the detailed drawings to lay out the different sheets for CNC brickwork. We chose to CNC this out of 6mm MDF as opposed to vac formed plastic sheets to ensure a good finish. Sheets were nested to minimise wasted material by reducing the total number of sheets required. DXF files can be extracted from this document, as well as a guide for the operator.
CNC Programming

Programming the CNC router using Aspire 8.0. Ensuring that the toolpaths are correct using the preview function, and also ensuring that cutters and spindle/travel speeds are appropriate for the material of choice.
Made sure to accurately reference the CNC router's X, Y and Z axes to guarantee a repeatable, and accurate finish.
